The Open University is located in Milton
Keynes. Maps and travel details to our University campus can be found
within
The Open
University's travel details. In addition, a map
of the local area may be useful for anyone wishing to walk between
the Open University campus and the listed hotels. For those wishing to book air travel, the
closest airport is London Luton, and there are good regular coach links
to Milton Keynes from here. Otherwise we recommend to fly into one of
the other London airports or Birmingham airport. Public
transport By train: Milton Keynes Central is the
most convenient train station for travel to the Open University. Buses
and Taxis can be picked up just outside the station. By bus from Central Milton
Keynes to the Open University: Public bus service numbers 12
and 20 run from Central Milton Keynes to the University, the
journey takes no more than 25 minutes. Check Milton
Keynes bus timetable page for up-to-date timetables, the 12
operates half-hourly and the 20 operates hourly. Both services run from bus stop number
34 outside the train station or stops L3 and D3 at the shopping
centre. Only the 20 runs from stop R3 outside the Jurys Inn hotel and
it may be worth walking to the train station. The University also operates a
shuttle bus service to and from the train station and University at
peak hours, these make no additional stops and the journey takes 10
minutes. These are usually large coaches with 'Souls' written on the
side, there may be a sign in the front window to notify that it is the
Open University service. These run from stop number 34 outside the
train station departing at 8:40, 9:30 and 10:15. A coach returns from
the University to the train station at 18:00. This
service costs £1 per journey, which is cheaper than the public
bus. By coach: Except for the VT99
service from Luton airport, which serves Milton Keynes Central
train station, airport coaches and national express coaches will
arrive at Milton Keynes Coachway. There are no direct local bus links
with the Open University from here, but there is an office where taxis
can be ordered or it is possible to walk to the shopping centre to use
public bus services.
Car
parking at the Open University Visitors can park for free in
any of the car parks on the Open University campus, no parking permit
is required. However, signs in the car parks indicate that cars not
parked in the marked bays will be clamped. The car parks closest to the
Berrill lecture theatre are likely to be full before registration
begins on the first day, but spaces are often available in the South
West car park.
